Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers have my absolute admiration as do many of the performers of that period. Their talents trained to perfection and without the aid of computers, the films they produced in Hollywood in the 1930’s and 40’s were nothing less than brilliant.
I painted this image after finding some old B/W photo’s. I represented these magnificent performers in colour and placed them onto the elaborate but plain lilac coloured background. This painting is about the celebration of brilliant talent and due to its iconic potential, the way it shines in even the most elaborate circumstances. I love these guys. This is one of my favourites.
