The Artist – Peter Jantke:
Art and creativity have been my life, all of my life, even when I am completely unaware of it. From my early days in my trade to today, it’s been my way of expressing my role in the outcome. It manifests itself in everything I do from painting and drawing to business to my domestic duties to my leisure time.
I am in the fortunate position of making my living from my hobby but I have learned that requires a mixture of self interested and commercially viable subjects and applications.
I started painting in my late 20’s when I began to teach myself to use my natural artistic skills. I am to this day completely self taught. Over my life, I have stayed mostly with oils, pastels and pencil illustration since, but have also included digital illustration along the way, being predominantly for commercial applications.
My paintings and illustrations are always one-offs. I love to paint Australian birds, Australian colonial history and fantasy art. I don’t have to paint pot boilers, instead we use digital printing technologies to reproduce my artwork many times over in various products including art reproductions, outdoor stickers and table mat sets.

As a hobby, painting started to influence my life’s direction and values and soon became the main focus in my life. Understanding that surviving as an artist requires both artistic and commercial applications together, I drew and designed images to be used for the manufacture or a range of commercial products that have been sold throughout Australia and internationally for over 12 years.
We started our business in 2002 with the aim of manufacturing a range of products using our copyright owned artworks. Art is a particularly hard industry to find a long term reliable source of income, particularly in Australia, so over the years we have tried many different ideas, products, marketing methods, services and reproduction methods.
With the emergence and development of plateless digital printing systems we finally had the ability to manufacture a wide range of products all in house at our studio in Brisbane Queensland. We have settled for a range of canvas art reproductions of my paintings, JAS Stickers -our famous range of car and bumper stickers, kids school labels and other gift ideas.
Being the artists, we only use the highest quality products available to make our products. From archival grade Art Canvas to polymeric based vinyl, we have researched and experimented with the longevity, durability and reproduction quality of everything we use. We have been operating large format digital printing systems for over 12 years.
