We all have out idols. We see them on the sporting field, the big screen or in our own personal lives. These characters spur us on the achieve greater things in our own lives and we would like to see ourselves in their achievements.
In this painting, I have taken an classic scene from the 1930’s film Top Hat staring Fred Astaire. I greatly admire his skills as a dancer and who he was in real life. I morphed my character from the sepia toned, scratched film shot background into this shiny blue ‘new reality’ persona to represent that this admired character, for whom we all have our own version, was timeless. And since this ‘timeless hero’ is the individuals choice, , I had to remove the character from the painting so I can give him to all who admire him. He is who ever you want him to be. Confusing? yes I know, but damn, he looks good doing it!
