The Beerwah Choir is window in time depicting a scene as it would have been in pre-colonial Queensland. The scene depicts natures own theatre where the two characters on the left are our audience, perched on a branch of a towering eucalypt. Behind them is Mt Beerwah. They listern intently to the mesmerising laughter of our performers on the right, standing on their stage, tall and proud as they serenade this ancient and pristine wilderness.
The scene is set at Mt Beerwah, one of a series or rugged volcanic peaks know as the Glass House mountains, located just north of Brisbane in Queensland Australia. In the painting, I have attempted to capture a portal in time before the landscape was changed forever by human intrusion. Mount Beerwah stands as a silent sentinel, its rugged silhouette dominating the horizon. It’s brought to life by the enchanting melody of these beautiful and unique Australian native birds.
