The warrior and her beast. I wanted to paint an image that celebrated the relationship between male and female characters in our world. It’s a symbiotic, natural and essential relationship for not only our survival but its integral in virtually every living creature on the planet.

I chose a mix of main characters because I wanted to portray a working relationship between the players and not limit its application to humans.  The female warrior and the male tiger together are a very powerful. Both are completely responsible for their own contribution in the partnership but as individuals, they are less formidable. The individual rolls they play are unique to themselves, but together the unite brilliantly. They are dependent and united, not because they must be, but because they choose to be to form a greater entity than they are by themselves. It’s about survival. This painting is a celebration of the relationship between male and female characters. From the female soldier mounted on the male Sabretooth Tiger to the phallic towers built on the edge of the v shaped valley and the bridge linking the towers to the girl, these symbols are independent but when combined, complete a more powerful single entity.

My composition starts with the central characters. The eye would fall to the warrior and then to the tiger. You’re lead to the left by the tigers direction where I pull you up through the castle towers and up to the top of the painting. The crossing direction of the clouds brings you along to the sun, the central light source. From here, your lead back down through the painting by the animals tail and water fall at the rear.
