The model was a very relaxed character who just got comfortable and nodded off. Her personality was quite disengaged so I used the the blues and purples to highlight this solemn and  distant attitude. When I completed the image, I wasn’t sure why I had drawn it so small on the page. On returning to my studio, I completed the painting in a fantasy style and placed her in a scene where she is alone and indifferent. I have used contrasting colours in my character and background to highlight the independence and detachment she displayed of her surroundings.
